For an in-depth look into the military action the United States has taken in what has been dubbed the ‘War on Terror’ watch Dirty Wars online. This documentary follows Jeremy Scahill who is an investigative journalist as he visits war torn countries, terror hotspots and terror breeding grounds. This includes visits to countries such as Somalia, Afghanistan and Yemen.
The visits to each of these places is at a great risk to his life. This is borne out by the fact that no insurance company in the United States could accept to insure him for kidnap and ransom. In the end he had to be insured for the same by companies from other countries.
One of Jeremy’s findings is a cover-up attempt by the US government and the US military in Afghanistan over the deaths of 5 innocent Afghan civilians, including 2 women who were pregnant. In this particular case they all died in the hands of JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) soldiers.
The investigation on the Afghan attack is followed by Jeremy visiting other locations where JSOC has intervened with disastrous results. In all these places he is able to talk to those who are for the raids and those who are against them. Dirty Wars also features accounts of the survivors of such raids.
Also featured in Dirty Wars is an investigation into the deaths of US citizens who were assassinated as part of the War on Terror. The case of the investigative reporter from Yemen who was put on trial on charges relating to terrorism after he reported on US military drone strikes is also discussed.
